Berks Local First

The Berks Local First campaign will promote the many economic, social, and environmental benefits of supporting local businesses in the Berks County region through use of the BALLE Think Local First model. All SBBN member businesses and other organizations will be eligible to participate. This initiative will be rolled out before the holiday shopping season in the Fall of 2010.

Transition Reading

The Transition Reading initiative will serve as a broad and long-term effort to help the City of Reading address the many challenges associated with peak oil, climate change, and economic decline using the Transition Network model. Once this model is successfully established, we will begin assisting other municipalities in Berks County establish their own Transition initiatives and serve as a local hub. This initiative will begin in the Spring of 2011.
